Start by setting the Project Tempo mode to Adapt and record-enable an audio track. If you want to see the results of the analysis, press the Show button.

Pressing Show will bring up the Smart Tempo Editor window. Play the regions back against click to hear the result in action.

Open the Global Track keyboard shortcut G or the Tempo List editor to see the newly-created tempo grid for your project. Logic will create a new tempo event for each bar that the tempo changes. You can, of course, work the other way around and have the imported takes match your existing Project Tempo. To try this, start by deleting all the newly-created tempo events using the Tempo List Editor.

The performance will now consistently play at bpm without any drift between bars. Import them into an empty project and place them into your arrangement without any correction. Set the project tempo to 90 bpm to match the Arp track. Similar to slipping, rotating moves the region content left or right by the nudge value, but with the difference that content that extends past the region border on one side reappears on the other side, as though the region were a loop.

When an audio region is rotated, it is converted to a one-track folder indicated by a folder icon in the upper-left corner of the region containing two regions. If it is rotated multiple times, the number of regions in the one-track folder stays the same, but the junction point between the two regions moves through the folder, reflecting the extent of the cumulative rotation.

You can unpack the one-track folder, or unpack and merge it to a single region, by clicking the folder icon and choosing corresponding commands from the menu that appears. You can use slip and rotate to move the content of audio or MIDI regions. Tip: You can also move and resize regions numerically by opening an Event Float window. See Use the Event Float window. If more than one region is selected, all subsequent regions are moved. For audio regions, the region anchor is placed at the current playhead position.

This command only works for timestamped audio files, such as those recorded in the current project, and imported Broadcast Wave or SDII files. Resize: When you resize the right edge of a region, the regions that follow move by the change in length. For both Shuffle R and Shuffle L, when you drag one region over another, the regions switch positions.

Only one audio region at a time can be played on each track. When two audio regions on the same track overlap, only the later right region is heard. Set the drag mode for the Tracks area In Logic Pro, choose one of the following modes from the Drag pop-up menu in the Tracks area menu bar: Overlap: Preserves the current region borders when you drag one region over another.
